As we round the final stretch there is a lot of activity at the
house these days. Paint, carpet and light fixtures are approximately
98% complete. Some of our fixtures were backordered so we have a
temporary light for now and others were still being hung as we were
leaving for the day. The basement carpet was also being completed
when we left, and the stairwells were last on the list. We're still
waiting on one last order of tile for our master shower, but the
bathroom floors are now close to being done. HVAC, Plumbing, and
Decking are all being worked on as I type this, and hopefully completed
soon. I'm also told that our countertop material has been delivered
to the fabricator and can be installed as soon as Monday. As you
may have gathered, the 31st drop-dead date has been extended. Now
its January 7th. Fingers are crossed, but things look positive!

Only a few weeks left in 2004, but things are moving nicely. The
cabinets have all been installed, but unfortunately the master bathroom
cabinets were the wrong color. The top floor and basement have been
painted, and if you look closely at some of the pictures you can
see the lights on. All the trim has been installed and is waiting
for painting. Carpeting, light fixtures and bathroom tile seems
to be all that's left.

With a drop-dead date of Dec. 31st, the builder races against the
clock to get all the remaining items completed. The goal is
to receive approval by the inspector for a Certificate of Occupancy
(CO), which would allow us to move into our new home. The
race is going to be tight as we continuously learn about material
delays and difficulties with some of the trades, but it seems like
it might be doable.
Sorry for such a large update, but we've been busy with our final
selections. Lighting, carpeting, and decking for the house, along
with rings and tuxes for the wedding, have basically consumed all
our time. With things moving along at a much faster pace, I'll try
to post an update weekly. All of the drywall has been sanded and
primed and the upstairs base, window, and door trim has been installed.
Painting of all the trim and doors has also started upstairs while
the tile guys completed the first floor. With that done, trim, cabinets
and doors can be installed on the first floor. Unfortunately, tile
seems to be the one item delayed the most, so work on the other
bathrooms must wait. With our unusually warm December weather, we're
going to try to get a deck built too.
On the Site side of things, I've nearly run out of web space (I
only get 500MB), so I've compressed all the original images down
to a more reasonable size. For those on dial-up, this should mean
faster download times. If there is a picture you'd like to see the
original for, shoot me an email and I'll send it to you.
Enjoy your visit!
