The preliminary backfill started yesterday and as you can see, it
is now possible to walk up to the garage. Unfortunately there was
a small incident when filling the garage with sand that blew out
the side wall. This was due to too much force on one side without
an equal force on the other side. This should be repaired shortly
so framing can begin.
Feature Update - I successfully created
my first QuickTimeVR from pictures taken on 2/14. I wasn't able
to get them all to match up, so the transition is a little awkward.
it. Download QuickTime, if needed, from the left.

Today the "I" beams were hoisted into place and work began on the
main floor. Not too interesting from above, but from below, you
can see the progress. Things are starting to take shape in
the basement.

FOUNDATION COMPLETE! This past
week, with temperatures in the 40s and 50s, all of the foundation
block work was completed. The misplaced window holes along the left
side and back are now in place and the fireplace will be built correctly
once the first floor is completed. In some of the pictures you may
see some holes in the top of the wall, these are called iron pockets
and is where the support "I" beams will go. These will be placed
on Tuesday and first floor framing can commence after that.

Happy Valentines Day! Stopped
by this morning to see the progress made on the foundation. Quite
a bit of it is done, including one whole wall, but alas we've already
found a mistake. You can see from the left elevation(coming soon)
that there were supposed to be a couple windows. A quick call to
the builder assured us that it would be taken care of. Probably
won't see any more progress until the weather warms up on Tuesday
or Wednesday.

Thanks to a balmy 35o yesterday, work on the foundation
has begun. As you can see, there are already 7 rows of block in
place along the front edge. Interestingly, the corners are made
up of special pieces of block and if you look closely in some of
the pictures, you can see that all the corners have been started.
Also, special pieces with angled edges are used for the angled parts
and if you look closely in the 4th picture you can see one sitting
atop the wall. With the temperature being in the 30's again today
and tomorrow, I'm hoping to see even more progress this weekend.

Concrete block was delivered today and the foundation should start
as soon as it warms up a bit.

Took a quick drive by the lot today and found the entire subfoundation
filled in. Unfortunately it was covered in snow, so I don't know
what it's been filled with. More concrete block should be delivered
any day now so the main foundation work can continue.
Also updated the site as to keep a consistent navigation menu.

Decided to stop back the next day and see how much dirt was in place
and was quite surprised. It looks like most of the subfoundation
is filled in, with the driveway needing more. Of course the driveway
will need to be raised much higher than it is, but its a good start.
Look for some site navigation changes on your next visit.
Enjoy your visit!
