Picture Update (9)
The last of the foam has been installed and the first layer of base
material is almost complete. While most of the crew worked on the
front and sides, a few guys were busy putting up the foam accents
around the back windows. If the rain holds off next week, we may
have our stucco completed by Wednesday or Thursday.

Not much progress over the past couple days. The HVAC guy has stopped
due to some confusion over how to cool the theater in the winter.
I guess normal air conditioning units only work above 40 degrees.
The electrician can't do any of the wiring in the basement until
the soffits are built and the framers seem to be missing in action.
The hole over the fireplace has been covered, but the roofers are
missing too. At least the stucco crew is making progress. Looks
like the last of the foam has been installed and the first layer
is beginning to be applied.

While the rain kept the stucco crew away, the framers were here
to install the final window in the breakfast room. I also met with
the HVAC guy this afternoon to go over some final questions relating
to the theater vents. Look for the theater section to open soon
now that the basement is seeing some action.

The window trim is mostly finished and if the rain can hold off,
we should have our first layer of stucco soon.

Most of the foam has been installed and the trim work around the
windows is beginning to go up. The installers are fighting the rain,
but hope to have the foam done today. The breakfast room window
has finally been delivered and the basement sliding door has been
installed too.

Much to our surprise the exterior crew has arrived and begun the
first phase of the stucco process - foam! Hundreds of foam boards
will be attached to the walls to form the base for the stucco material.
A primer layer of stucco will be laid down first, followed by the
final layer which includes the color. Barring any weather problems,
the stucco should be completed over the next couple weeks.

The chimney and fireplaces have been completed and as indicated
by the little green tag, have been signed off by the city inspector.
HVAC is coming along nicely as well and should be done by the end
of the week. The framers are also back to finish some minor items
such as the stairway niches, and some major items such as the roof
around the chimney.

The chimney is almost complete with a little of it poking through
the roof. It should be completed on Monday. The wiring crews have
been around too and are done with the first and second floors but
are waiting on the HVAC guys to finish the basement to avoid any
conflicting paths. Our builder informed us, however, that the HVAC
guy broke his foot this past week and that is why he's been missing.
Hopefully next week he'll be able to climb a ladder or at least
find someone else who can.

More of the chimney is done with the beginnings of a fireplace in
the bedroom. With the storms rolling through Cleveland today, I
hope they finish soon.

We have a chimney! After months of a huge gapping hole over our
bedroom and basement, the mason has arrived to build our chimney.
The space you see in the pictures will actually be filled in to
house a 2-way fireplace for the basement. Once the mason is done,
the roofers can come back and finish the shingles in that area.
The HVAC guys have also started ducting out the basement and hopefully
will be finished soon.

The framers were busy today! The basement has been completed, the
stairs installed and work upstairs on the finishing touches before
the drywallers has begun. It's a nice feeling to walk down stairs
to the basement rather than climbing down a hill of gravel and mud
to go in the back door. The dining room arch is finished and the
pantry is being worked on, but the most significant amount of work
has been the exterior entrance archway and the breakfast room. The
window is still missing, but we're told it'll be here any day.

No framers today, but three new pallets sit in the driveway. I'm
not sure what those orange things are, but I'm guessing this delivery
is for the chimney. Finally that large gaping hole in the roof will
be filled in. I also met with the Security and Structured wiring
guy this evening to mark out the cable and phone locations. He tells
me his crew starts on Sunday and should be done by Tuesday, but
I have a feeling the framers and HVAC guys might get in his way.
I guess we'll see. I'm having this guy run all the cables for the
rest of the house, but leaving the theater for me.

More framing is complete. Today the lobby, equipment room, and theater
were framed, along with the bathroom, and stairwell. The stairs
have been delivered and are awaiting installation. Looks like there
is only one wall left and then the framers can move back upstairs
to finish things they missed earlier.

With the basement poured, the framing has begun. Most of the right
side of the house has been completed and you can begin to see where
walls, halls and doors will be. Meanwhile, upstairs, the electrician
is finishing up his wiring. Once the basement is complete, the HVAC
guy will return to finish the duct work.

Independence
Day!
Enjoy your visit!
