10/03/05 - Picture Update - (house) (theater) After a few month hiatus from the website, I thought I'd add an update now that most everything is done. There are still some loose ends that need to be completed, but that's another story. As you'll see from the house pictures, the landscaping is in and the grass is growing. Its starting to look like a real house! There's also some updated pics of the theater, for those interested.
06/24/05 - Picture Update - (theater) IT'S DONE! It's really, really done. No, not the house...the Lipszyc Home Theater!
06/08/05 - Picture Update - (theater) Took a couple weeks off to acomplish some personal items. Hopefully the house and the theater will be done in the next couple weeks!
05/17/05 - Picture Update - (theater) Almost done!
05/12/05 - Big Picture Update - (theater) Added 15 new pictures to the theater section! They're scattered amongst the different sections, so be sure to click on the
appropriate links.
05/10/05 - Picture Update - (theater) Again, not too many pictures this time, but I did get a lot done. Most of the mulberry fabric is up, as well as the projector. A couple minor changes and
I'll be very close. My plan is to get the fabric and columns done during the week and the trim over the weekend. Wish me luck!
05/06/05 - Picture Update - (house) (theater) Had the day off on Wednesday to supervise the trades and interview landscapers. When I wasn't mucking around in the mud, I was able to work
down in the theater. I managed to get a lot of the blue fabric completed and will start soon on the mulberry. Hope to have the projector mounted soon as well.
Upon arriving home last night, I was pleasantly surprised to see that someone had been working to form the mold for our walkway to the house. Of course the original forms didn't have the joint lines matched up, but some shifting and whacks of the hammer solved that. The sidewalks will be next I hope.
05/02/05 - Picture Update - (theater) Not too many pictures this time, but I did get a lot done. Columns are built and if my jigsaw blade hadn't snapped, I'd be done cutting the speaker openings too. Most of the room is prepped for fabric, which I hope to start on Wednesday.
04/25/05 - Picture Update - (house) (theater) After constant bugging of our builder, we finally got a
bulldozer out to the house to grade our yard. The city also stopped by and
planted our first tree. Now to get the landscapers out for beds, shrubs, and a lawn. I also got a couple more fabric sections completed before our weekend trip to Toledo.
04/20/05 - Picture Update - (theater) (house) During downtime from my "work from home" day, I was able to get some more done on the theater. I'm getting
close now...just a few items left. Unfortunately, they're the big items. The main reason I was working from home was to be able to supervise the trades as they did more work. Yesterday we had fireplace guy, light guy, and bulldozer guy come by. At least now we finally have our fireplace hearth, all our lights, and a graded yard.
04/13/05 - Picture Update (theater) Was able to take full advantage of the nice weekend. In addition to cleaning and setting up the pool table, I got quite a bit accomplished in the theater. Only a few more items left. Unfortunately, they're big, time consuming items.
04/12/05 - Picture Update (theater) With plenty of chores to do around the house, I've negotiated with my wife to allow me to work on the theater every-other-day. This has actually worked out better than expected as she's wanted me to actually work on the theater more days than not. (It helps that our builder hasn't graded our yard yet.) With these extra days, I've actually made better progress than expected and think I'm still on track for my May inauguration.
04/01/05 - Picture Update (theater) I've been busy for the last week,
putting up more insulation and getting most of the furring strips installed.
I've also progressed on the equipment rack shelves and hope to begin working on the media shelves this weekend.
03/24/05 - Picture Update - (theater) (house) Since the weather in Ohio has taken a turn for the worse, I decided to work indoors rather than my cold garage. This meant hanging the supports and brackets in preparation for some shelves. I'll be re-using my MDF shelves from my old Flexi rack, but there's some work to be done on those first.
I also got motivated (mainly because the rest of our mirrors were installed yesterday) to take some pictures of some of the finally finished areas of the house. Just one more fireplace and some repaint work and the inside will be builder free. Then the fun begins with the outside of the house.
03/23/05 - Picture and Site Update - (underwater) (theater) Despite passing through a very large x-ray machine, our underwater one-time use camera managed to survive.
Unfortunately, these cameras aren't known for their quality, and I had an equally bad scanner, so the pictures have been processed as best as possible.
The house is still a work in progress as we wrestle with our builder to get trades back in to either finish or repair the things that never got finished before we moved in or while we were gone. I hope to have some
final pictures up soon. I'm also building some momentum building on the theater. I was able to find a local supplier for my acoustical treatments, and I've secured pricing on the GOM fabric, now all I have to find is some true 1" lumber. I've also started to build the shelving units for both the
equipment and my DVD collection.
From a site perspective, I've moved all the house construction comments
and links to their own pages, by month. I will continue to update this main page as my blog, with updates when I get a chance. Check back often as I hope to be making good progress on the theater for a May unveiling!
03/14/05 - HUGE Picture Update - (hawaii) After recovering from
appendicitis and the flu, I've finally posted pictures from our wedding in Hawaii. These are the pictures I took myself and tried to label each set according to the main activity. I have not had a chance to go through the pictures from the pros, but hope to tackle that soon. Enjoy!
03/10/05 - General Update In an effort to make room for our wedding pictures, I've retired most of the large images from the house portion of the site. With the space saved, I hope to have the wedding pictures up soon.
03/03/05 - General Update We're back. Hawaii was absolutely gorgeous and we had a lot of fun in Oahu and Maui. I had to have my pesky appendix removed two days before we were scheduled to come back, but I'm nearly fully recovered. I'm still sifting through all the pictures and hope to have them up soon. Check back after the weekend!
02/08/05 - Bon Voyage! We're off on our weddingmoon! (click here)
01/04/04 - Launch!!
Welcome - My original concept for this site was to create a community
for people to share reviews or "opinions" about almost everything
and anything: speakers, cars, HDTV, sports, cellular service, work,
digital cameras, etc. I have several opinions of my own that I am
usually happily to share with those around me, and I thought, "Why
not share with the internet community too?" I'd like to eventually
put together a section where I can place my opinions about things,
and allow others to read and/or add comments. I'm also currently
working on a online forum where people can go to discuss their opinions,
and am hoping to have it completed soon. Please check out the "forum"
link on the left if you'd like to experiment and provide feedback.
In the meantime, mropinionated.com will also serve as the home for
my picture collections. My fiancé, Debbie, and I are building a
new home and I am attempting to chronicle it in pictures. At the
end of the project I hope to animate several pictures together (those
with asterisks *) and create a video montage that mimics time-lapse
photography. Currently I have several still pictures posted
of the new construction. Other picture collections include
my new car, and over the next few months, look for the section labeled
"home theater" to become active as I start the process of building
the Lipszyc Theater (name recommendations welcome) in our new house.
Also look for the "wedding" link to become active as February 26th,
2005 approaches.
Enjoy your visit!
-Brian
Note: I will attempt to update the site on a weekly
basis or when time allows. Please check back for updates.
